The Open Dump Cleanup Program uses landfill fees to remove illegal dumps, clean up streams, and to gather evidence to prosecute illegal dumping activity. The program has completed over 5,648 projects, resulting in the removal of an estimated 133,638 tons of material, including 24,827 tons of steel, 59,048 appliances and 1,399,372 tires. Over 18,195 volunteers have pitched in to help make these projects a success. |
